CSJ Conference 2027 - CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The 2027 Counselors for Social Justice (CSJ) Conference is accepting proposal submissions through September 25th. The 2027 conference will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on April 30 & May 1, 2027 with our pre-conference Day of Service on April 29.

The conference seeks presentations, workshops, and discussions that explore social justice, advocacy, equity, inclusion, and transformative counseling practices.

We welcome presentations that explore the many forms disruption can take: clinical, educational, organizational, political, relational, cultural, and communal. Proposals may address advocacy and systemic change; trauma and collective healing; decolonization and liberation; race, gender, sexuality, disability, migration, class, and other dimensions of identity and power; ethical responsibility in times of injustice; community-based approaches to counseling; resistance and resilience; counselor education, research, training, and supervision; or other work that asks us to reconsider what counseling requires of us when neutrality itself can help preserve the status quo.

Counselors for Social Justice Conference 2026 Agenda

In a time when the sociopolitical landscape continues to challenge our collective well-being, Counselors for Social Justice remains steadfast in our mission to center advocacy, equity, and liberation as essential components of the counselor identity. Advocacy is not optional - it is the heartbeat of our profession.

This year’s virtual conference, Rooted in Radical Resistance: Reclaiming Our Healing through Social Justice and Advocacy, is a call to action and a space for restoration. Together, we will explore how healing itself can be a radical act - how we, as counselors, educators, students, and community advocates, can resist systems of oppression through culturally responsive, affirming, and liberatory practices.
Attendees and presenters are invited to engage in critical dialogue and skill-building that foster collective movement, relational and cultural intelligence, and sustainable advocacy. We are seeking proposals that bridge the intersection of mental health, social justice, and systemic change - presentations that move beyond awareness to actionable strategies that disrupt injustice and promote collective healing.

Through this gathering, we aim to reclaim our voices, restore our energy, and reaffirm our purpose in advancing justice within counseling and beyond. Join us as we continue to grow, rise, and bloom - like roses in concrete - rooted deeply in radical resistance and committed to liberation for all.
