Who   Joins CSJ?

Counselors for Social Justice (CSJ) members include counselors, activists, leaders, consultants, graduate students, and counselor educators. CSJ is a division of the American Counseling Association (ACA), which means that ACA provides specific administrative functions to CSJ, including offering CSJ memberships to their member.  If you are already an ACA member, you can add CSJ as a "division" and that will make you a CSJ member, too. However, it is not necessary to be a member of ACA to join CSJ. All annual membership rates are the same regardless of whether you are an ACA member or not, however if you are not an ACA member, then a one-time $10 fee will be charged when you first sign up with CSJ.

Membership Levels
  • Student Member: Currently attending a part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate program related to counseling:
    $20/year
  • Regular Professional Member: Working in the counseling profession part-time or full-time:
    $40/year
  • Associate Professional Member: Working in a profession that is adjacent to counseling (but not a counselor) part time or full time. Note: If you are a pre-licensed Associate Counselor who has graduated and is working in counseling, please use the Regular Professional membership level. Our Associate level is for affiliated professionals who are not counselors. This membership is not available through ACA and is only available as a membership option by signing up directly through CSJ on this website. $40/year
  • Retired Professional Member: Previously worked in the counseling profession and currently retired:
    $25/year
If you are not an ACA member, then there is also a one-time administrative fee of $10 to join CSJ.

 HOW TO  Join  CSJ?

Here are the options for joining CSJ.

A.  Become a member of both ACA and CSJ at the same time
  • Start here on the ACA website:  www.counseling.org/membership/join-renew
  • Choose your ACA membership level
  • Add CSJ as a division as you go through the checkout process
Please note: The ACA website can be challenging to navigate. If you run into any problems in getting your CSJ membership established through ACA, you will need to please contact the ACA Membership Engagement Team. Call them at 1 (703) 823-9800 and choose 7 for membership. The ACA Membership Engagement Team is available from 8:30am to 5:30pm U.S. Eastern time.

International members wishing to join ACA and CSJ should use this secure link to submit payment to ACA. Afterward, please email ACA at [email protected]  with your name, email, and mailing address. ACA will process your membership request and follow up with details on accessing member benefits.

B. Current ACA members: Add CSJ as a Division to your existing ACA Membership
During your ACA renewal, you can add CSJ as a new Division membership to your existing ACA membership:
  • Log onto your existing ACA Member account
  • Add CSJ as a Division, then go through the checkout process
Current ACA members who want to add CSJ as a division partway through their membership year will need to contact ACA Membership Engagement. Call 1 (703) 823-9800 and choose 7 for membership. The ACA Membership Engagement line is available from 8:30am to 5:30pm U.S. Eastern time.

C. Join CSJ directly, without becoming a member of ACA (standalone membership)
  • Click here to submit payment online and join CSJ with a new standalone membership.
  • A one-time $10 admin fee applies to this option.
If you are based outside the U.S., or if you are interested in becoming an Associate member, you are welcome to start a new CSJ standalone membership through the link above, no separate instructions needed, provided you have a standard credit card.

If you have questions about becoming a CSJ member, please contact [email protected]

HOW DO  I KNOW  IF  I'M  ALREADY A MEMBEr?

HOW DO I ACCESS MY ACCOUNT?

Looking for your ACA CSJ membership number? Want to determine if your CSJ membership is active?
You can confirm your CSJ membership through one of these methods:

ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNT: ACA-ASSOCIATED CSJ MEMBERSHIPS
If you believe you have joined CSJ through the American Counseling Association and want to confirm that your CSJ membership is active:
  1. Log onto your ACA account at https://www.counseling.org
  2. Go to My Account either by clicking on the red-circle person icon at top, or from the three-bars menu, choose My Account
  3. Click on the tab for Divisions, Branches and Regions
  4. CSJ will be listed under Division if you have an active membership, similar to the screenshot below. If CSJ appears there, then your ACA ID is your CSJ member number. If CSJ does not appear under the Divisions list, then you are not active with your CSJ membership, and either need to call ACA to add CSJ as a division, or you can join CSJ as a standalone member per the instructions above.

If you have a CSJ Division-only membership that you purchased through ACA, then you may need to reach out to ACA for your Member ID. Call 1 (703) 823-9800 and choose 7 for membership. The Membership Team is available from 8:30am to 5:30pm U.S. Eastern time.

ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNT: STANDALONE CSJ-ONLY MEMBERSHIPS
Or, if you have a standalone membership with CSJ that you purchased directly through this website, here's how to access your account:
  1. Click Member Sign-In to access your account.
  2. The About screen should appear, which has your profile fields.
  3. Your CSJ member ID appears at the bottom of the profile fields. Note that if the field is blank, it may be because you have just started your membership. Member IDs are manually assigned so please check back in a day or so, or reach out to [email protected] if you need the ID # more urgently. If your membership is expired, the member number will still show, so please also check that your renewal date listed at the bottom of that screen is in the future.

Have you now realized you're not actually a CSJ member?
No worries, you can join CSJ through this website!  Online sign-up available here.

MEMBERSHIP TERMS, AUTORENEWALS AND CANCELLATIONS, AND NO-REFUND POLICY

This policy applies to memberships purchased directly through the CSJ website. If you joined CSJ through the American Counseling Association (ACA), please contact ACA directly for cancellation or refund inquiries.

All membership fees paid directly to CSJ are non-refundable. Please review membership details carefully before joining.

Membership terms are for one year and will automatically renew on the membership anniversary date using the credit card on file unless canceled in advance. If you do not wish to continue your membership for the following term, you will need to log onto your CSJ membership account to cancel in advance of the membership renew date. We are unable to refund membership fees if you forget to cancel. We also do not issue partial refunds if you cancel your membership term early. The one exception to our non-refundable policy is in the unlikely event a duplicate account is created under a different email address for the same member, in which case the refund request must be submitted within 30 days of creating the duplicate account.
Separate cancellation and refund policies apply to event or conference registrations; refer to the relevant policy for those circumstances.
